SHIURIM & LECTURES
We are proud to feature a full range of Shiurim (including Daf Yomi) & Lectures given by Renowned Speakers and first rate Magidei Shiurim throughout Shabos and Yom Tov, including a two track all night program of both shiurim and talks on Shavuos night. (There are both early and later minyanim for Shacharis.) The Directors and Rabbonim of the Jewish Heritage Center, Rabbi Naftali Portnoy and Rabbi Moshe Turk, both popular speakers among secular and learned audiences throughout the United States, Canada and Eretz Yisrael spearhead this talented staff of dynamic, insightful and inspiring presenters.
Rabbi Naftali Portnoy has served as the Co-Director of, and Senior Lecturer at, the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned Kiruv Center, since 1988. Together with Co-Director Rabbi Moshe Turk, he developed this respected organization, which since 1987 has reached out to more than 20,000 Jewish Adults throughout the Metropolitan New York area. More than 2,000 of their students have become fully Shomer Torah u’Mitzvos and over 8,000 have made significant strides towards deepening their commitment to Torah Judaism. Rabbi Portnoy has a deep grasp of psak halacha and has conferred extensively with g’dolei poskin both in America and Eretz Yisrael on varied and delicate matters of halacha as they apply to baalei teshuva.
Rabbi Moshe Turk is the founding Co-Director of, and Senior Lecturer at, the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned Kiruv Center. Rabbi Turk is a warm and engaging speaker who has lectured to both learned and secular audiences throughout the country and in Eretz Yisrael.
SCHOLARS IN RESIDENCE:
Rabbi David Fohrman lectures internationally on Biblical themes. In recent years, Rabbi Fohrman has developed Aleph Beta, an online startup that makes use of his particular methodology in looking at Biblical texts, and develops animated video content on that basis. Aleph Beta has produced hundreds of hours of video. Thousands of individual subscribers, as well as hundreds of schools, worldwide, make use of its material.
Rabbi Fohrman is the author of The Beast that Crouches at the Door, finalist for the 2007 National Jewish Book Award, and The Queen You Thought You Knew and The Exodus You Almost Passed Over. He served as a senior writer and editor for ArtScroll’s Schottenstein Edition of the Talmud, and taught Biblical Themes at The Johns Hopkins University. Rabbi Fohrman currently resides in Woodmere, NY with his wife and children, where he also serves as resident scholar at the Young Israel of Woodmere.
Rabbi Daniel Mechanic, ordained by Rav Avraham Pam, ZT"L at Yeshiva Torah Vodaath, is a sensational, dynamic and sought after speaker for adults and teens alike. His emotionally powerful and inspiring sessions address the issue of winning our hearts and minds to the truth and beauty of Yiddishkeit. His cutting edge presentations about family life, parenting, chinuch, and contemporary issues have challenged and inspired thousands of people. Rabbi Mechanic is a world-renowned lecturer on topics related to Kiruv Rechokim. Trained by Aish HaTorah, he spent 15 years working as the Director of Discovery, where he presented hundreds of seminars and inspired thousands of orthodox, unaffiliated and secular Jews. In 1996, Rabbi Mechanic began to assist the Yeshivos and Day Schools in strengthening the Yiddishkeit of their students. Rabbi Mechanic also provides individual counseling and mentoring to hundreds of young men, women and families.
Rabbi YY Rubinstein learned in Gateshead Yeshiva for seven years where he received Semicha and a further three years in Kollel. He speaks regularly throughout the United States, Canada and Europe as well as South Africa and Israel. Rabbi YY is a broadcaster and writer for BBC National Radio. His “Yom Kippur” for BBC World Service, was heard by an audience of 156 Million people. In 2000 the "Independent" Newspaper cited him, as being amongst five people in Britain to turn to for advice. He is the author of twelve books. As well as traveling to speak all over the world, Rabbi Rubinstein is a regular columnist for several newspapers here and in the UK. He is the author of twelve books including his latest book, Truly Great… Jewish Women Then and Now which became an instant best seller. He teaches in several Yeshivas and Seminaries in New York.
Mrs. Chani Juravel is a renowned mechaneches with a long and distinguished career as a teacher, principal and consultant. An alumna of BJJ, Mrs. Juravel graduated Brooklyn College and did her graduate work in Columbia's Teachers' College and Fordham University. She is an LCSW in private practice in Rockland County NY treating individuals and couples. Combining a knowledge of Torah, hashkafa and psychology, Mrs. Juravel is a sought after speaker across the globe, an inspiring columnist for Binah magazine, and a popular lecturer on Aish.com and TorahAnytime.com.
Naomi Nachman, The Aussie Gourmet, has her own cooking show, Sunny Side Up, on the Kosher.com network and also hosts her own weekly show, “Table for Two with Naomi Nachman” on The Nachum Segal Network – in which she discusses all food-related topics. Naomi writes monthly for the Mishpacha magazine and is a contributing editor to The Jewish Home newspaper. She has been a guest host on the QVC TV network and has made a variety of guest appearances on CBS TV (in both NY and Washington), NBC Morning News, Fox 5 New York, and the Hallmark Channel and has been quoted by the Forbes Magazine, Wall Street Journal on Jewish food trends. Her published cookbooks are Perfect For Pesach and Perfect Flavors. Naomi is often sought after to do cooking demonstrations, book signings and to produce Kosher Chopped-style cooking competitions across the world, where she shares her immense enthusiasm and passion for food.
Mrs. Chana Rose is a seasoned professional with close to 30 years of experience as a Shadchan. Her remarkable energy, compassion and concern is clearly evident. Articles of her impressive success have been written in Ami Magazine, Mishpacha, and Bina among others. Each week she writes the "Ask The Shadchan" Column in the FJJ. Mrs. Rose lives in Flatbush, NY where together with her husband, Rabbi Ben Zion, a choshuva talmid of Rav Aharon, Zt”l, she has much nachas from their eight married children.

DAY CARE / DAY CAMP
In previous years the Preschool Program and Day Camp were under the experienced direction of Mrs. Miri Sklar and Mrs. Lorey Friedman, who have been providing years of exciting, creative and professionally run programs and activities for younger children. An abundance of indoor and outdoor space, together with our warm and very dedicated staff guarantee our children the time of their lives so their parents can get more out of their davening and shiurim on Yom Tov.
