We are proud to feature a full range of Shiurim (including Daf Yomi) & Lectures given by Renowned Speakers and first rate Magidei Shiurim throughout Shabos and Yom Tov, including a two track all night program of both shiurim and talks on Shavuos night. (There are both early and later minyanim for Shacharis.) The Directors and Rabbonim of the Jewish Heritage Center, Rabbi Naftali Portnoy and Rabbi Moshe Turk, both popular speakers among secular and learned audiences throughout the United States, Canada and Eretz Yisrael spearhead this talented staff of dynamic, insightful and inspiring presenters.

Rabbi Naftali Portnoy  has served as the Co-Director of, and Senior Lecturer at, the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned Kiruv Center, since 1988. Together with Co-Director Rabbi Moshe Turk, he developed this respected organization, which since 1987 has reached out to more than 20,000 Jewish Adults throughout the Metropolitan New York area. More than 2,000 of their students have become fully Shomer Torah u’Mitzvos and over 8,000 have made significant strides towards deepening their commitment to Torah Judaism.  Rabbi Portnoy has a deep grasp of psak halacha and has conferred extensively with g’dolei poskin both in America and Eretz Yisrael on varied and delicate matters of halacha as they apply to baalei teshuva.

 

Rabbi Moshe Turk is the founding Co-Director of, and Senior Lecturer at, the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned Kiruv Center. Together with Co-Director Rabbi Naftali Portnoy, he developed this respected organization, which since 1987 has reached out to more than 20,000 Jewish Adults throughout the Metropolitan New York area. More than 2,000 of their students have become fully Shomer Torah u’Mitzvos and over 8,000 have made significant strides towards deepening their commitment to Torah Judaism.  Rabbi Turk is a warm and engaging speaker who has lectured to both learned and secular audiences throughout the country and in Eretz Yisrael.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Rabbi Dr. Yaakov Finestone is a musmach of Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin where he was a close talmid of Rav Yitzchak Hutner zt"l. In addition to being a highly respected eye surgeon, he is an acclaimed magid shiur having delivered the daf yomi shiur at Cong. Bnei Shlomo Zalman for over 30 years. For the past several years he has given the daf and a lively, warmly received shiur b'iyun on Shavuos night at our hotel program.

Rabbi David Fohrman lectures internationally on Biblical themes. In recent years, Rabbi Fohrman has developed Aleph Beta, an online startup that makes use of his particular methodology in looking at Biblical texts, and develops animated video content on that basis. Aleph Beta has produced hundreds of hours of video. Thousands of individual subscribers, as well as hundreds of schools, worldwide, make use of its material.

 Rabbi Fohrman is the author of The Beast that Crouches at the Door, finalist for the 2007 National Jewish Book Award, and The Queen You Thought You Knew and The Exodus You Almost Passed Over. He served as a senior writer and editor for ArtScroll’s  Schottenstein Edition of the Talmud, and taught Biblical Themes at The Johns Hopkins University. Rabbi Fohrman currently resides in Woodmere, NY with his wife and children, where he also serves as resident scholar at the Young Israel of Woodmere.

Rabbi Y.Y. Rubinstein is one of the most sought-after speakers on the Torah scene. He speaks regularly throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Israel. Receiving Semicha from Gateshead Yeshiva after learning seven years there, Rabbi Rubinstein gives Gemora and Hashkofa shiurim in Yeshivah Sh’or Yoshuv, is the author of ten books and broadcasts regularly on BBC National Radio. Before moving to America he was a regular contributor to England’s largest Radio Show with 16 million listeners. He has also written programs for the BBC, including “Yom Kippur” which was heard by 156 million people. The UK’s Jewish Telegraph reported that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a fan of Rabbi YY’s TV and Radio appearances and confided that she thinks he’s, “Awfully good.” A regular columnist for Hamodia, and the Jewish Press, Rabbi Rubinstein also writes for several non-Jewish publications.

Lori Palatnik is an author, Jewish educator, media personality, and much sought-after international speaker with featured talks at Yale, Brown, Penn, and Capitol Hill. Lori is the Founding Director of Momentum, (The Jewish Women's Renaissance Project), partnering with 220 organizations from 29 countries in order to reach out to disengaged Jewish mothers, inspiring each to a love of Yiddishkeit and Eretz Yisroel.  Over 17,000 women have experienced MOMentum, a one-year transformational initiative that includes a free 8-day trip to Israel.  Lori is the busy mother of five children and one granddaughter. She was named as one of ten “Women to Watch” by Jewish Women International, and Hadassah recently named her one of the “Most Outstanding Jewish American Women of Our Time.”

Rabbi Yakov Palatnik is originally from Chicago. As a young adult, he traveled through Europe and then to Israel.  There, he discovered the vibrancy and relevancy of Judaism.  He studied for 10 years at Aish HaTorah College of Jewish Studies (Yeshiva) where he received rabbinical ordination.  For the past 30 years, he has worked in Jewish outreach in Toronto and Denver, was the founding rabbi of The Village Shul of Toronto, and now learns with executives all over the world.  He led a vibrant community in the  Washington, DC area, where he was known for his ability to impart deep wisdom in an engaging and memorable way.  Rabbi Palatnik recently moved back to Jerusalem where is a senior lecturer at Aish HaTorah in Jerusalem’s Old City.  He is the co-author of the book, Remember My Soul, and the father of five kids, ages 30 to 20.

Shlomy Berger is an attorney and accountant associated with a New York based private equity firm. For many years he was a popular senior lecturer for Aish Hatorah’s discovery program and more recently for Project Inspire.

Rabbi Dr. David Hertzberg is Principal of the Yeshiva of Flatbush Middle School. While at Yeshiva University he learned under Rav Herschel Schachter Shlita, and was a member of his Kollel. He holds a Master of Arts in International Politics from New York University, a doctorate in Modern World History from St. John’s University and is an Instructor of History at Touro College. His research has focused on intelligence sharing in counter-terrorism, diplomacy and epidemiology. Rabbi Hertzberg writes a monthly column for the Jewish Press and conducts workshops for students and parents on dangers to our youth.

Rabbi Yossi Singer, Menahel of Mesivta Chofetz Chaim in Queens is a dynamic speaker, respected machanech and sought after shadchan. Additionally, he has endeared himself to thousands of Jewish Heritage Center hotel guests, having  been the uplifting Baal Musaf of our Yomim Noraim Hotel programs for nearly two decades. To all of his diverse roles he brings a wealth of Torah knowledge, an insightful grasp of people; particularly today's youth, and a warmth, humor and dynamism which empower his talks, discussions and interactions. Not limiting contact with his talmidim to their High School years alone, Rabbi Singer maintains a relationship and haspa'ah with many of his alumni for years after. As a result of this, he has branched out into the arena of shadchanus, becoming heavily involved in, and highly successful at, setting up and guiding young people into successful matches. Rabbi Singer joins us this Shavuos with his combined roles of Baal Tefila, speaker and shadchan. 

  SHADCHANIM

Mrs. Judy Bodner, a highly popular and successful Shadchan for over 20 years, originally from Columbus, Ohio, is also a certified Life Coach who specializes in Dating, Relationships and building one's Self Esteem. She is a perceptive and caring Shadchan who works tirelessly to find appropriate matches and to advocate on behalf of the people she meets. Judy teaches and is the Mechaneches at Tiferes Bnos Yisroel (TBY) Seminary in Flatbush, NY. In addition to the one on one counseling she provides to her students at TBY, Judy has a private practice serving the Tri-State area. Judy and her husband Rabbi Pinchus Bodner reside in Monsey, NY.

Mrs. Chana Rose is a seasoned professional with close to 30 years of experience as a Shadchan. Her remarkable energy, compassion and concern is clearly evident.  Articles of her impressive success have been written in Ami Magazine, Mishpacha, and Bina among others. Each week she writes the "Ask The Shadchan" Column in the FJJ. Mrs. Rose lives in Flatbush, NY where together with her husband, Rabbi Ben Zion, a choshuva talmid of Rav Aharon, Zt”l, she has much nachas from their eight married children.

Our guests are encouraged to email resumes to our shadchan beforehand so she can try to think of possible ideas before you even meet.

The Preschool Program and Day Camp are under the experienced direction of Mrs. Maayan Davis and Mrs. Rivka Bagley, who have been providing years of exciting, creative and professionally run programs and activities for younger children. An abundance of indoor and outdoor space, together with our warm and very dedicated staff guarantee our children the time of their lives so their parents can get more out of their davening and shiurim on Yom Tov. ​
